Checking for security interests in your property

Ensuring information on the PPSR is correct

Anyone can search the PPSR to check if someone else has registered a legal claim to personal property, providing it is for a legitimate reason.

As a debtor, you can search to make sure information about a security interest is correct.

Search the PPSR

Registrations on the PPSR can affect your credit rating or ability to raise funds, so you'll want to be sure that the details are accurate.

For example, if you have paid off the debt owing on a car, has the creditor (the secured party) properly removed (discharged) the security interest from the register within the required 15 working days?

If there are details which you believe need correction, you can request that they be changed.
